ON DEMAND WEBINAR | Opioid Use Disorder: The Science and Evidence for Initiating and Maintaining Remission and Recovery


This on-demand webinar is part of the Pharmacist to Pharmacist Buprenorphine Resource Initiative for Dispensing Guidance and Education (P2P BRIDGE) series. The goal of this webinar is to help Kentucky pharmacists learn more about the science and evidence behind medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and the role community pharmacies can play in helping patients maintain remission and recovery.

 This ACPE-accredited continuing pharmacy education activity (0022-0000-24-017-H08-P) is designed to meet the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy continuing education regulatory requirement for pharmacists to complete 1 hour of CPE on the opioid epidemic or opioid use disorder as outlined in 201 KAR 2:015.

Mark J. Huffmyer was a board-certified ambulatory care, geriatric, anticoagulation, and multiple sclerosis pharmacist. He served as the clinical coordinator for the Neurology and Psychiatry/Substance-Use-Disorder teams at the University of Kentucky Healthcare Specialty Pharmacy and Infusion Services. He was an adjunct assistant professor at the UK College of Pharmacy (UKCOP). He graduated from the UKCOP in May 2014 and completed a residency at UKCOP/Wheeler’s Pharmacy/American Pharmacy Service Corporation Community Pharmacy Residency in 2015. He was passionate about teaching and precepted a variety of learners including pharmacy students, residents, and international students. He conducted research through the Sanders-Brown Center of Aging in geriatrics, cognitive impairment, polypharmacy, and deprescribing.

  • Explain the role of pharmacy staff in treatment retention and long-term outcomes for patients taking buprenorphine.
