Wonder what residency program directors (RPDs) are looking for? This one-hour on-demand UK College of Pharmacy Preceptor Development Webinar is designed to help preceptors gain valuable insights regarding the 2023 revised PhORCAS recommendation form, script effective letters of recommendation (LORs), and manage the residency application process. RPDs from various types of PGY1 programs will answer questions and provide tips to help preceptors effectively navigate the recommendation process.

Dr. Barras is the PGY1 Residency Program Director at the Louisville VA Medical Center. She completed her residency training at the Louisville VA as well before starting her clinical practice in ambulatory care. Along with her role in the residency program, she also works as an ambulatory care Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner with a full scope of practice for comprehensive medication management. Her areas of interest include resident development, diabetes, hypertension and women's health.

Dr. Cook was the director of the PGY1 residency program at UK HealthCare for over 12 years, working with over 100 PGY1 residents during that time. Dr. Cook has been a long-time preceptor for the neurosurgery service and is the Neuroscience-Pulmonary/Critical Care clinical coordinator. He has also participated in numerous residency preparatory courses & has published in the area of residency recruitment and applications.

Dr. Djuric Kachlic is a Clinical Assistant Professor and an Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) Director at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy (UIC). She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UIC in 2005 and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with an emphasis in Community Care with UIC and Dominick’s Pharmacy in 2006. Dr. Djuric Kachlic has been a clinical faculty member at UIC since 2006 and served patients in the Family Medicine clinic and UIC’s outpatient pharmacies. In 2012, she established the UIC PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program and continues to serve as the director of the program. Dr. Djuric Kachlic’s teaching interests include self-care and non-prescription medications, immunizations, and community practice. Her research interests include preceptor development, interprofessional education, and assessment of student learning.

Dr. Neitzel is the current PGY1 Residency Program Director at Ephraim McDowell Health in Danville, Kentucky. After graduating from the University Of Kentucky College Of Pharmacy, she completed a PGY1 residency at Ephraim. Following the completion of her residency year, Dr. Neitzel stayed on at Ephraim as a clinical staff pharmacist. In 2019, she transitioned into the PGY1 residency program director role at Ephraim. Dr. Neitzel currently precepts the Orientation, Research, and Student Precepting learning experiences for the residency program.

Dr. Taylor is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. In addition to teaching didactic and experiential components of the PharmD curriculum, she works with health-systems throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky to develop and enhance pharmacy residency programs. She co-created the Residency Coaching and Training (ResCATs) Program at UKCOP 4 years ago and is passionate about preparing pharmacy students to be successful in pursuing pharmacy residency training.

  Nicole Keenan is a career counseling expert with a flair for fun. When she’s not helping young professionals discover their strengths, you’ll find her advocating for well-being and personal growth. Nicole received a BA in Education from Morehead State and her Master’s in Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary. In her current role as Director of Student Success & Career Development at the UK College of Pharmacy, she combines her unique education, positive attitude, encouraging spirit, and 17 years of career counseling to help students pave their own way to have a fulfilling career. Her career background includes; teaching, designing and teaching online courses, recruiting, counseling, career development, academic advising, mentoring, and leading and supervising teams.
