Naloxone and Beyond: The Changing Landscape of Opioid Antagonists

This one-hour, on-demand video module provides Kentucky pharmacists and technicians with up-to-date information on the opioid epidemic and changes in opioid antagonist products. Learners will gain a better understanding of the role of opioid antagonists (e.g., naloxone, nalmefene) in reversing opioid overdose deaths, and products that are available by prescription or over-the-counter. This presentation aims to help members of the pharmacy team decrease barriers to opioid antagonist access and educate patients on opioid overdose response and reversal. This module will provide the most recent information that will facilitate availability of opioid antagonists from pharmacies and give Kentucky communities the tools they need to combat opioid overdose deaths.

This ACPE-accredited continuing pharmacy education activity (UAN 0022-0000-23-006-H08-P/T) is designed to meet the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy continuing education regulatory requirement for pharmacists to complete 1 hour of CPE on the opioid epidemic or opioid use disorder as outlined in 201 KAR 2:015.
